5R Update 14 June 2010
Dear all,
Attached is the Summer Calendar [PDF opens in new window]. As you will see, there are 2 more Thursday classes before the summer break, quite a few SYP over the summer and a couple of Intro Wednesdays, including the open session during the week long dance event. Some of this is in The Park and some in Cluny, Forres. It is all on the website if you forget - or on this calendar which you can keep, print out, or look at posted around the Park.
I hope it is clear enough. There are a few dates still uncertain (depending on the Nairn jazz festival) so i have left them out and if they happen, in August, will email separately.
I am teaching some, Bettina is teaching a few SYP and Sarena Wolfaard from Edinburgh with be holding a SYP in the beginning of July. Enjoy!
I am in a review process about the weekly classes and will send a separate email about that as soon as I have had the time to write it!
Up and coming workshops 2010/11:
There are other things brewing; Retreats for Individuals, a weekend in Sheffield, an on-going group in Geneva, Secret Garden parties in Edinburgh, London and Bristol (and Paris??) and more. My Angel of Openness for the year is having a field day playing with my terror of the unknown and the excitement that comes when new things happen.
Keep in touch

Findhorn Update 29 January 2010
Dear all,
Firstly a reminder about the Replenish 3 day event starting tomorrow. We are almost full so if you are wanting to join this eclectic wonderful group that has evolved please email Monica today.
A small intimate group danced last night. People showing up who haven't been to class for months. I love how large and varied the pool of 5R dancers is. Deepening Waves is next Thursday 4th Feb and Bettina is holding the SYP on Sunday 7th February.
Info on the Women's workshop 5-7th March. The Goddess & the Whore was going to be Women's Circle. Julie (Deal) and I were not happy with this title and have had some wonderful conversations about what we are actually offering. Clarity arrived and the fliers for 'Secret Garden - a weekend for women to nurture and celebrate our sacred sexuality' will be out next week. Thank you for your patience to those that have been asking for months how to book.

Findhorn Update 14 January 2010
Hello all,
a reminder that the Thursday Deepening Waves classes start again tonight. Looking forward to seeing you then.
The new price increase will begin in 3 weeks, giving time for dialogue/feedback to occur: £10 flat fee per class, £8 NFA and £7 concessions (OAP, students/unemployed). Your friendly door people will be exercising their Staccato muscles for those of you who ask to pay concessions. In addition, I am offering a payment card: pay for 10 classes and you get 2 free. This will, I hope, soften the price increase from £6 to £8 for many of you . It is also intended to encourage commitment to classes – your practice and classes really benefit from regular attendance, which I appreciate as well. The payment card will probably be kept on the door – to be discussed with the door crew! They will be valid for 6 months from date of purchase. Please note, that while the NFA price is £8 which is what most of you would be due to pay (if you are NFA members...); if you buy 12 classes for the price of 10 that works out at £6.66 per class which is only an increase of 66p from what most of you were paying.
Conversations will no doubt continue, in the meantime please do take advantage of the following: Replenish: 30 January 30 - 1 February 2010. AND I am very excited to be teaching a week in Greece, 2-9th July, at Jock’s Centre in Kalikalos. I met Jock during my experience week in 1986 when he did my nature sharing. It was really due to him that my life changed about so much as I ended up staying on (instead of leaving on the saturday) to help out in the Apothecary (where the Visitors Centre is now) for the next 3 months and on and off over the next couple of years. So i am pleased to be able to now offer 5Rhythms at what sounds like such a lovely place - I have never been to Greece and it has been on my wish list for a long time. Please check out the flier to book. The earlier you book the cheaper the travel and there is a 5% discount if you pay in full before 90 days (April 2nd approx).
With love,
Deborah

News from Bangkok
I write to you from Bangkok to remind you all that
Martin is teaching another SYP in
CLUNY BALLROOM this Sunday 15th November at
7.00-8.30pm as usual.
It is so hot and humid here - a welcome change from my usual November weather! teaching today was harder than I expected. Very loud air-conditioning, poor acoustics, getting the hang of teaching in Bangkok chaos which is very different than the more ordered way in Japan. We did great. I am completely at the mercy of wonderful translators for every word I say and keep needing to change the way i teach - use my body more to demonstrate which is great. (Read More...)

News from Asia
Dear all,
Another update; not sure when I would do this if not for planes. I am now on the plane from Tokyo to Bangkok. it's 30 degrees there - a far cry from what I understand is a frosty fresh Findhorn.
Japan - what to say? I taught in 5 different studios and slept in 6 different beds. I leant the difference between sumimasen (excuse me) and shamisen (Japanese guitar) and a few other words. I attended 4 concerts of Liz's and cried at each one - listen out for one of her new songs entitled "Rain". Have some tissues ready. I ate lots of soba noodles (buckwheat) and practiced slurping (seems I'm not a natural!).

More news from Japan
Monday - no internet since I
left Tokyo so I will continue. The workshop in
Fukuoka went very well. Dancing 5Rhythms gives such
a rare permission for Japanese people to
release and let go. This country has a 'right way' to
do everything. Very beautiful and on the harsh side,
restricting. One woman said at the end that it was
amazing how in the space of 2 days I had succeeded in
creating a sense and experience of community for this
disparate group of people - which is what I love to
accomplish. So much need for connection...
Liz and I can't quite believe that we really are here in Japan together.
I have now been at 2 of her concerts and cried at both, she has such an exquisite voice. Everyone wants her autograph!

News from Japan
Hello all you lovely people,
Friday - I'm sitting on a plane flying from Tokyo to Fukuoka. Somewhere below me is Mt Fuji. She may reveal herself - apparently she is quite particular about when she does.
I am loving being here - so nice to have some time in between one thing and another being here for 2 weeks instead of 8 days. I was fairly dizzy after my flight - 24 hours door to door. After a hot shower, sitting down which as how they have them here, I was refreshed enough to go out to a 5Rhythms class, just. We got there half way through but I don't think I would have lasted 2 hours anyway. There is a Japanese teacher (Sahaja) who lives in Holland that I have met twice. Since I came here she is now coming about every two months. It was great to go to her class and strengthen our relationship which was important to do for the work as well.
Next day, after 7 solid hours sleep I had one of the best massages I have ever had. 2 Hours of swedish massage expertly done, finished off with some cranio-sacral. Heaven. We swept the floor a bit and couldn't find the dustpan. I really knew I was In japan when she said, I will make a box to put the rubbish in, and got out some newspaper on the floor and made an open box - origami not as art but for daily functional use. Update from New York!
Happy New Year to you all from the Big
apple!
Yes, here I am having a nourishing and inspiring time with Gabrielle and 45 other teachers. Going over some basics in teaching material and also studying 'Mirrors" work - that is the work of the ego and the many guises it shows up in, specifically in teaching but of course in all our relationships. I feel lucky, privileged, grateful etc.
The New Years Event was a wonderful success - one of the best ever. A slightly mad, 'random' open session that some people loved and some detested...... but engaged us all in the dance in a different way which I think is always beneficial!
I am doing my absolute best to get venues for classes confirmed for this term. Due to the floor in the auditorium being sanded and workshops in Cluny we will be moving about... (Read More...)

New Year's Event 2008/2009
I love the Bodysurf Scotland New Years Event which is
why I am excited about teaching on it again. This
year, having had a year off, we are trying something
different. Karl and I have invited Robert Anderson,
an old friend of ours from London who teaches Contact
Improvisation in London and all over to join us. With
a mix of 5R and CI sessions, time off to relax in the
hot tub and walk on the beach, two open sessions for
those who can't or don't want to participate in the
whole thing, dinner in the Community Centre each day
so we get to share food, local and far away dancers
(inc. Japan and Ireland so far!),
a fabulous Hogmanay Ceilidh and
party, this promises to be a wonderful 5 days.

5Rhythms for Women in Poland
Nourishing the Source, 26-28 September 2008,
Warszawa, Poland
Come and explore what is nourishing for you as a woman, entering into the feminine mysteries. Some women may feel at home in this territory, for others it can be an alien landscape. However present or absent nourishment is in your life, come dance deep to expand into the fullness of your tender, raw, wild, passionate being. There will be movement and bodywork, music and silence, connection and space – a chance to remove ourselves from the demands of daily life to emerge again as radiant women. While each Rhythm offers its own gateway into nourishment at different times, to attend to different needs, Flowing is the ultimate teacher. This weekend will be devoted to the body, our dancing, what we eat, even what we wear. Let’s enjoy! Booking & details through info@5rytmow.pl
