Welcome to Vital Moves.

My collection of embodied facilitation for personal and collective transformation.

I offer one-to-one and group workshops, retreats and mentorship. These offerings are inspired by my love of teaching, bringing together the full range of my training and experiences as an embodied facilitator, dancer and leader. I feel utterly blessed to have found my vocation early in life. I’ve spent the vast majority of the past 30+ years being fascinated by and ‘reading’ the encyclopaedia of the body, learning to take note of and trust the invisible as much as the visible. My home is in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. I live as part of the Findhorn Foundation Community and Ecovillage in North East Scotland.

I am a Founding Member of Open Floor International, (OFI) and am honoured to currently be involved in training the next generation of Open Floor Teachers. Open Floor is an embodied movement practice that brings self-awareness, mindfulness, and purpose to life. We use the universal language of movement as a means of self-discovery and relationship building.

“Thank you for always bringing the cutting edge work to our world… thanks for your brilliance, your sensitivity and your critical thinking.”

-KATHY ALTMAN, co-founder Open Floor International

I thrive on variety and have worked internationally in many different contexts and with groups and individuals of all levels of experience. I move fluidly from in-person to online work amidst a global community of dancers and practitioners.  In both corporate and educational settings, I have facilitated dance and movement practices, as a tool for creative expression, social activism and managing change.

I am committed to personal development, and nurturing individual and collective transformation. In Sweat Your Prayers, Gabrielle Roth’s second book, I was acknowledged for my ‘ferocious introspection’. This embodied understanding within me of our inherent interconnectedness feels particularly important and useful at this time on the planet in our climate of dis-ease.

  • I love to dance and I love to move; is there a difference? Some people hear the word dance and their eyes light up with joy and excitement. For others the term dance can be limiting and intimidating, igniting anxiety and fears of not being good enough or of being judged. Movement on the other hand is impossible to avoid whilst you are alive – if you’re reading this you’re moving your eyes, your lungs, your blood and much more!

Through Vital Moves classes, workshops and individual work, time and again I have witnessed extraordinary transformations in people. These are a testament to the simple and potent results that can be accessed when the wisdom of the body is given priority, beyond the rational mind.

Any and all aspects of your human self will be touched by working with me – it has been joked that a warning should be placed on my fliers to only come dance with me if you are open to radical change!

  • Open Floor International (OFI) is now ten years old and as a board member I am supporting the organisation at a pivotal change as we evolve and grow. In my personal and professional commitment to social justice and equity building, I am proud to have introduced Sociocracy/Dynamic Governance to OFI as our governance model, and to have contributed to our decision to adopt Creative Commons licensing for our work. I am currently the Operational Lead for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within OFI.
