Here you will find all the information to facilitate your participation and the unfolding of the group.
Please read through the following recommendations so that you are well prepared for our journey together.
Dates and Times:
The group meets for six sessions:
Monday 23 February 7pm - 9pm
Saturday 7 March 3.30pm - 6pm
Saturday 18 April 3.30pm - 6pm
Monday 20 April 7pm - 9pm
Monday 11 May 7pm - 9pm
Monday 18 May 7pm - 9pm
Venue: DDS (Dance Drama Studio), Universal Hall. Everyone joining is familiar with the Universal Hall - which is wonderful!
Arrival: Music will be on 10 minutes before the session begins. Please arrive from then to allow enough time to get settled so we can all begin together.
What to expect
Our sessions will be informed by the Open Floor curriculum: https://openfloor.org/our-curriculum/intro-and-overview/.
We encourage you to take the time to read through this information.
We will follow the OF Movement Cycle - Open Attention, Enter (with an Embodied Anchor), Explore, and Settle.
I’ll focus on a different Core Movement Resource (CMR) each week.
I’ll be looking at helping the group find connection and belonging, and discovering what each of you hopes for from the group.
This is new, so I am making it up - listening within to what I think/sense is wanted and listening to you, to see what’s wanted, being responsive as well as directive.
I anticipate it being a blend of curriculum input, as the request was for an OF study group, with time for moving without input to explore and digest, and reflection.
To Bring
Comfortable clothes to move in, several layers work best (the onion strategy!)
A journal/paper and pen.
Refillable water bottle.
The DDS is a shoe-free zone, so you might want to bring some indoor shoes.
‼️ IMPORTANT - we have a participant in the group who has a SEVERE NUT ALLERGY. It’s essential that there are no nuts/nut milks brought into the DDS at any time during any session.
Telegram Group
We have set up a group on Telegram for us to share resources and communicate throughout this course. This is a confidential group to be enjoyed in a way that works for each of you.
If you don’t already use it, you first need to download it to your mobile device and/or your laptop if you wish; it cross-syncs simultaneously.
You can join the Telegram group by clicking on the button below.
The swiftest way to reach Bettina and Deborah (if you will be late/are unwell, for example) is to send us a message in Telegram, not emailing Beth.
It’s obviously up to you how much/little you share between sessions.
Responsibility
Each participant is fully responsible for their own physical, psychological, and emotional health during the course and participates at their own risk.
Deborah would appreciate knowing in advance if you have any accessibility needs that would be helpful to be made aware of, and if you are on any kind of medication. This information will be treated confidentially by Deborah and her assistant - please email Deborah directly.
Team
Deborah will be assisted by Bettina Jespersen, 5Rhythms & Open Floor teacher.
